Waterproof effect of rubber O-ring

The waterproof ring of the cylinder liner is a rubber O-ring, and the cross section is mostly circular. Compared with the skeleton oil seal, the structure is simple. It has neither a skeleton nor a self-tightening spring, and relies on the flexibility and elasticity of the rubber itself to seal. Improper installation will cause a large amount of cooling water in the water jacket to seep into the crankcase, resulting in the deterioration of the oil, the deterioration of the lubrication quality, aggravating the wear of the moving parts of the engine, and even causing major failures such as burning the tile and holding the shaft. Therefore, when installing the water blocking ring The following should be noted:

(1) If the waterproof ring is too thin or the water seal groove of the cylinder liner is too deep, so that the waterproof ring cannot be higher than the arc surface after being installed in the water seal groove of the cylinder liner. Layer asbestos rope, coat with water-resistant calcium-based grease, then put the waterproof ring into the water seal groove, and then press the cylinder liner into the seat hole of the body.

(2) If the waterproof ring is too thick or the water seal groove of the cylinder liner is too shallow, and it is too high above the arc surface after installation, it will not only be difficult to install the cylinder liner, but also squeeze the rubber water seal or even the cylinder liner. Evenly sand the rubber water seal with emery cloth until it protrudes to a suitable height after being installed in the water seal groove. Then apply grease on the surface of the rubber ring, and then the cylinder liner can be pressed into the body seat hole.

(3) If the thickness of the waterproof ring is uneven or the depth of the water seal groove is different, and the rubber ring protrudes unevenly after being installed on the cylinder liner, you should carefully check whether it is the problem of the rubber ring or the water seal groove. Replace the faulty part.

(4) Before the rubber waterproof ring is inserted into the water seal groove of the cylinder liner, the rubber ring and the water seal groove should be cleaned, and impurities and dirt should be avoided during installation. After the rubber ring is installed on the cylinder liner, carefully check whether it is twisted and slipped. Before installing the cylinder liner, carefully remove the dirt on the upper and lower bearing holes of the cylinder block, apply a layer of oil on the surface of the lower bearing hole, and then slowly press the cylinder liner into the bearing hole.
